My issue is that I think Stirling is better at creating worlds than
writing stories set in them.  I've enjoyed the SETTING of all of his
books which I've read recently but I'd have to go back to the ISOT
trilogy for one which I actually enjoyed as a story and even the third
books there suffered from the extended retelling of Zulu and the
frenetic rush to wrap everything up at the end
