I've expressed before that I thought he devised one of the better Space
Opera backgrounds. The Adamist/Edenist divide, the kinds of different
****ps, the habitats, all great. I loved the system where the
prospectors are finding bits of old alien tech, for instance.

Unfortuately, I didn't like the story he chose to tell with all that
great background. I'd have been a lot happier with a Niven-style batch
of small novels and shorter works exploring various aspects of that
universe (yeah, I know there were a few short stories already).
