I couldn't agree more about "War of Honor," but I think "At All Costs"
used its length wisely.
I also wonder if it might not be the last book on the main Honor-
centric series. I haven't heard anyone announce that as an intention,
but it might just turn out that way for various reasons:
1. Many series (including in SF) fade away when the main character
gets married. "Happily Ever After" is not usually considered good
story conflict material. Romantic tension isn't the only plot engine
out there, but it can be a big one.
2. Honor is one promotion away from being Admiral Princess Marissa
Picard. This not only strains reader credibility, but it makes it
harder to tell stories about her being on the front lines of the
action.
3. Outside the books, Weber has a series out with a different
publisher. They might pay better for all I know.
