YASID: sick man's dream life, possibly an Ace Double, perhaps from the early 60s

Someone sent me this query. They thought it was an Ace Double, the
other half being EARTH ABIDES. Only thing is, EARTH ABIDES was never
an Ace Double. But it did have an Ace edition in 1962 -- perhaps this
was another Ace book, even perhaps a Double, from about the same time:

>The companion novel was set in England and as I recall was about a young
man
>in poor health who in a dream/coma led the life of an alter-ego who was a

>weak and venal character .
>Some of the story was placed in the East Anglia region of England
>(Blythburgh in Suffolk)
>There was more than one reference to the Irish author Sheridan LeFanu and

>his book "In a Glass Darkly."
