Maybe thinking meat is a good idea

I can think of a fair number of stories in which brain uploads 
to computers, interacting with the real world or with a detailed enough 
virtual world, is presented.  Sometimes this is a bit of a shock and 
the uploaded person has to go through something like grieving to adjust 
to this new digital lifestyle.  

	Are there stories in which a mature virtual population, folks 
who have had the time to consider and reflect and get used to life this 
way, come to the decision that it's better (by whatever standard) to 
live as a complicated biochemical process within a physical body?  And 
do they act on it?
