And we all know what great judges of sapient-being nature the Jedi
are.

But seriously, what do you mean by "presented?"  (a) It's the
prevailing view within the culture and with George Lucas / the
particular author is merely showing it, (b) GL/tpa is deliberately
trying to push the concept, or (c) GL/tpa is endorsing it without
even noticing?  (It's a close call, but I'd say that (c) is even
more ****ed up than (b).)
