You mean the way nobody makes or uses knives any more?

Expecting slug-guns to be replaced by laser pistols is like expecting
swords to be replaced by light sabers.

They may become irrelevant if the entire problem-space goes away --
"you don't bring a gun to a nova-bomb fight". But I don't think that
was the original complaint.
