Did capitalism ruin Robert Jordan's legacy?

by Trolloc <troll@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > May 10, 2008 at 05:19 AM

Supposedly he'd revealed all the im****tant bits about the Wheel of Time
storyline prior to passing on, but that could very well be just
advertising on the part of Tor. The proven postmortem profitability of
such things as the Tolkien and Disney estates would be sufficient
motivation to twist the truth in that regard.

There was in fact ample time for RJ to finish the series in his
lifetime, and he was aware that this was so. This was a popular query to
him even in the 1990s. Yet the audience was treated to filler book after
filler book for years on end to the point where it became a running joke
- until it wasn't, because he actually did die.

Was the promise of polynomial perpetual profit too lucrative for RJ to
forego compromising his artistic integrity for?

Might he have actually completed the Wheel of Time if it weren't for its
popularity?
