This is more an atheist point of view than a Darwinist one. If you do 
not believe in anything divine, then there can be no divine purpose. So 
what? A great many people get along very well with no belief in any kind 
of gods, ghosts, or other supernatural entities.

Actually, I think that attitude is more kindly and decent than the 
attitude of some "Christians" that life is incredibly valuable and must 
be maintained no matter what; the attitude that says someone brain-dead 
and suffering must not be allowed to die in peace but must be kept alive 
and suffering because supposedly it is the will of God.
