Well, the section of HYPERION called "The Consul's Tale" was
originally a novella called "Remembering Siri". It is, as I recall,
the Consul who is playing that piano ... the story does not open the
novel, but perhaps the original story includes that opening section?
(I haven't seen it in that form.)
