He knows about Vapnoople. He may even know that at one point
Vapnoople tried to modify a cat, but failed to get the results he
wanted. He did NOT know that Vapnoople's cat was not destroyed.
Nobody on Castle Wulfenbach knew; it was as much as Krosp's life
was worth that no one should find out.
Gil is about (Friday's page, unless the Foglios diverge again,
which is as likely as not) to meet Krosp for the first time. He
may instantly say, "Gott in Himmel! Vapnoople's experiment
survived!" assuming he did know about Vapnoople's experiment in
the first place. Or he may not.
