Nope, nothing to do with lung tissue. When my skin is in contact with
something cold, or is wet and exposed to cool air or wind, I get pretty
ugly hives all over the affected area. If it's serious (like after
swimming on a windy day) also symptoms of numbness in fingers or even
all limbs. It goes away after warming up. I haven't yet been able to
test for hypotension, which is said might occur in this condition.
Luckily it's all external, I can consume cold stuff like drinks and ice
cream without problems. Unluckily, common antiallergenic meds do not
help at all.

What this cursed affliction does, besides excluding me from spas and
swimming pools, taking cold showers (or even, hot showers in cold
bathrooms), and wearing light clothing in cold weather, is forcing me to
look for deserted beaches to do my swimming on. And of course swimming
alone in unpopulated locations is not a good idea in this condition, but
it's one of my greatest pleasures, so I can't possibly give it up.
