I have indeed read plenty about Farley Mowat. Of course the Reagan
administration was very stupid in denying him a visa. That has
essentially nothing to do with the fact that Mowat lied in his
memoirs. It's not OK to, for example, claim to have spent 3 seasons
with wolves when in fact you spent perhaps 90 hours. And it doesn't
make it OK to later say, well, you meant them to be fiction (even
"true" fiction) after you've been caught.

Granted that "he didn't let the facts interfere with the truth" can be
read in various ways, in this case it's quite simply read, he
presented fictional memoirs as fact. And that is wrong.
