Re: SF Cookbook?

Boy, what a troll I started!

Thank you to everyone who responded to this topic. What got me
interested in the subject recently (it was several years ago that I
read I. Asimov) was reading two other books.

The first, Anime Essentials: Every Thing a Fan Needs to Know
(Paperback)
by Gilles Poitras, I bought back in January. I read Chapter 6 How to
be a Fan and Chapter 8 Anime Stuff with an eye toward how suggestions
could be applied to other forms of science fiction. Poitras recomends,
among other things, trying to cook and/or eat Japanese foods that
anime characters are often seen eating; especially in the company of
other fans. T

he second book, Movie Menus: Recipies for Perfect Meals with Your
Favorite Films by Francine Segan, I happened to see in a library and
had to snatch it up. The chapters mostly reflect historical period in
which they take place, gives several recipies for each period,
followed by a suggestion of films taking place in that period (fantasy
films are grouped with films set in the Middle Ages). There is also a
chapter on romantic meals and films, and a chapter on food and movies
to enjoy with kids. Conspisciously (for me, anyway), there is not a
science fiction chapter (although there are some sf films in the
family chapter). So this got me wondering about what to serve at a
science fiction themed party.

The same section of the bookstore which carried Anime Essentials also
had a book of recipes from anime and manga, that I believe was called
The Manga Cookbook, but that was just Japanese food. So then I
remembered Asimov.
